Intermediate Hurlers do Parish proud by booking place in Final

St. Joseph’s Doora/Barefield Hurlers are through to the Intermediate hurling Championship final. They defeated Sixmilebridge in the Semi Final last Saturday by 2-11 to 0-13. They have booked their place in the Intermediate Championship final keeping their promotion prospects alive.

St. Joseph’s Doora/Barefield Hurlers are through to the Intermediate hurling Championship final. They defeated Sixmilebridge in the Semi Final last Saturday by 2-11 to 0-13. They have booked their place in the Intermediate Championship final keeping their promotion prospects alive.

Sixmilebridge played with the breeze in the first half. They were up five points to two after 16 minutes. St. Joseph’s rallied however and with an Alan O’Neill goal from a penalty to focus minds, 1-3 was the tally of a 10 minute brace of challenges.

The half time score was 1-5 to 0-7 with still all to play for. The Parish had 3 unanswered point after the half re-commenced, two from Conroy and one from Niall Deloughery who came on.

It was looking unlikely as in the final minutes of normal time the Parish trailed 0-13 to 1-08. However Deloughrey came to the rescue and goaled after franic scenes arounf the bridge goals. Alan O’Neill pilled on the pressure continuously and nearly had another goal minutes later.

Final points from Conroy, Deloughrey and Tom Hannon sealed the win which ended on a scoreline of 0-13 to 2-11. They will be up against Broadford in the final.
