Junior B Hurling Division 5B

On a damp and soft underfoot pitch at Ruan, this was the Junior B’s first outing of the year. The team was made up of a mix of Under 21’s, players who have been training with the Intermediates for the last number of months and those that have just started.

The first half was a one-sided affair with Ruan dominating and the defence under pressure. Two goals were conceded which St. Joseph’s found hard to come back from. Before the half ended, John Kennedy came off injured and Kris Currid was introduced.

The half time score was Ruan 2-04, St. Joseph’s 0-02.

St. Joseph’s had the most of the possession in the second half but it was goals that the Parish needed but were not forthcoming. Sean Mulqueen and Cathal Clune were power-houses in midfield and upfront while Ben Baker, David Morrissey and  Cian Barron were strong in defence.

Ruan’s third and final goal made sure they were out of sight. There is certainly positives to be taken from this game as there certainly constructive aspects of the St. Joseph’s play. The mixed of youth and experience complemented each other and this team has strong potential.

The final score was 3-11 to 0-08.
