St. Joseph’s Minor

St. Josephs proved too strong for neighbours Clooney/Quin on Wednesday evening last in Round 3 of the Minor B championship.  The winners took a grip on proceedings at an early stage and proved the better balanced side, maintaining their unbeaten run this season. The parish side led 3-4 to 1-2 at half time. Ciara Guilfoyle was scorer in chief for the parish with two opening half goals. Ciara Duggan rattled the Clooney/Quin net minutes later.  Ciara Whelan (3), Sinead Considine (1) and Sarah Costelloe (1) exchanged points, and with five minutes remaining Sinead Considine goaled for the home side. Aoife Shannon replied with a point as the half time whistle sounded.
Clooney/Quin were finding it difficult to get a grip in the second half and the scores they needed just never happened. St. Josephs scored 5-3 in the second half with scores from Ciara Duggan (2-0), Keira McGrath(1-0), Aoife Shannon (1-1) and Ciara Whelan (1-2).  Clooney/Quin battled to the end with scores from Ciara Grogan (0-1)  Aoibheann Duggan (0-1), Moya Dunne (1-0) and Sinéad Considine (0-1f) but it wasn’t enough and St. Josephs emerged deserved winners.
