Round Four – Intermediate Championship

St. Joseph’s travelled to picturesque East Clare last Saturday evening to take on Broadford in the fourth round of intermediate camogie championship.

 

The maroon and white girls were first to register raising the green flag from a well placed Aisling Hannon free deceiving their goalkeeper Aoife Boland in the process.  St. Joseph’s continued to dominate throughout the first half with well angled points from play by an onform Erinn Hennessey, Aisling McMahon as well as Ciara Duggan notching up a goal and three points.  Broadford replied with two points from frees leaving half time 2-7 St. Joseph’s, 2 points Broadford.

 

The second half saw Duggan add another goal to her tally as well as Sarah Hoey rattling the net, and points from Hannah Meaney, Sīofra Nī Chonaill and Aisling McMahon saw off Broadford’s rally of two goals and four points.

 

Karen McMahon was instrumental between the posts as well as her strong full back defense line Orla Moloney, Megan O’Brien and Kate Dillon.  Half backs Eimear Casey, Chloe Towey and Aisling Hannon played pivotal roles under pressure to secure plenty ball for midfielders Laura Hayes and Sīofra Nī Chonaill.

 

Up front saw forwards do what they are supposed to do – score……Ciara Guilfoyle, Louise Woods, Vanessa Meaney and Meadhbh O’Connor broke plenty ball to Erinn Hennessey, Sarah Hoey, Aisling McMahon, Ciara Duggan and Hannah Meaney to lengthen the lead.  Superb team effort left the final score St. Joseph’s 4-10 Broadford 2-6
